Clarivate released its Journal Citation Reports (JCR) for 2023 on June 20, 2024. eFood is officially indexed by Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) in December 2023 and obtained the first 2-year impact factor of 4.0 and 5-year impact factor of 3.9, ranking 49/173 in the Food Science & Technology Q2 category quartile, with a total of 462 citations. All papers published since January 2020 have been included in Web of Science (WOS). At present, eFood have been included in EI, ESCI, SJR, Scopus, WOS, DOAJ, CABI, FSTA, Index Copernicus and other databases.

eFood is a comprehensive food journal led by Chinese scholars. It was initiated by professor Weibin Bai of Jinan University, professor Ming Du of Dalian Polytechnic University, professor Tianli Yue of Northwest University, professor Xiaobo Zou of Jiangsu University and professor Fang Chen of China Agricultural University. The honorary editor is academician Beiwei Zhu, and Weibin Bai of Jinan University, professor Mohamed A. Farag of Cairo University and professor Chao Zhao of Fujian Agriculture & Forestry University serve as editors-in-chief. The first editorial board was composed of 112 scholars from 32 countries such as China, Romania, UK, Peru, Italy, Chile, Turkey, Germany, Poland, Malaysia, Spain, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Serbia, Greece, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Ecuador, Israel, Algeria, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, USA, Portugal and India.
